Setting up Addon Domains

Addon domains are reserved for advanced accounts and higher. Addon domains allow you to run several websites from one account. The main difference between Addon domains and Parked domains is that these don't have to be pointed at the root of the domain. You can have a domain called domain.com and then point additional domains at sub-folders within your account.

For example, secondsite.com could be pointed at domain.com/site2/. Anyone who visits secondsite.com will never know it is being hosted within another account. It will appear as it has its own web hosting account.

The following is a step-by-step for creating an Addon domain:

Click on the link under Domains that says Addon Domains.

Type in the name of the domain and a username for the domain. You will be using this username for FTP access to upload your files

Then specify the folder you want this domain directed to.

NOTE: We suggest you leave the default values as they are.

Then specify a password for the domain. This will function as the FTP password.

If successful, you should receive the following message:

Now you're ready to upload your content!

Use your favorite FTP program. Use the username you created plus your Addon domain. For example, if the username you specified is 'addondomain' and your Addon domain name is 'addondomain.com', then you would put 'addondomain@addondomain.com' for the FTP username. For the password, use the password you specified earlier for the Addon domain.
